Evangelos Karademas served as Professor of Clinical Health Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Crete from 2004 and, since 2026, has been a member of the School of Medicine at the University of Crete. He received both his undergraduate degree and PhD from the University of Athens.
He has served as Director of the Psychological Counselling Centre of the University of Crete (2004-2014; 2026-present) and as Chair of the Department of Psychology (2012-2014; 2025-2026). He was Director of the Laboratory of Applied Psychology at the University of Crete from 2020 to 2025 and served on the Board of Directors of the University of Crete Research Centre for the Humanities, Social and Education Sciences from 2021 to 2026.
He is a member of the editorial boards of six international scientific journals and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine. He is a former President of the European Health Psychology Society (2020-2022). Since 2017, he has been an affiliated researcher at the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas. He has also collaborated with the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” since 2026, and, since 2024, has held the title of Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Nicosia.

1999: PhD in Clinical Health Psychology, University of Athens. Doctoral dissertation title: The Role of Self-Efficacy Expectations as a Moderating Factor in the Relationship Between Stress and Psychosomatic Health.
1997: Master’s Degree in School Psychology, University of Athens.
1991: Degree from the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, University of Athens, with a specialization in Psychology.

His research interests focus on stress and health, self-regulation and dyadic regulation in health and illness, adaptation to chronic illness, quality of life, and well-being. He has been honoured for his work by the European Health Psychology Society, which awarded him the title of Honorary Fellow.
