Stefanos A. Kachris is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology and a Radiation Oncologist at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Crete and also holds a degree in Radiology from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. He specialized in Radiation Oncology and has received further training in advanced radiotherapy techniques in the United States.
He has extensive clinical experience and research activity in oncology, with a particular focus on combined chemoradiotherapy and the use of biomarkers in radiotherapy. He actively contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has authored numerous publications in national and international scientific journals.

Stefanos Athanasios Kachris’ research interests focus on Radiation Oncology, with emphasis on optimizing radiotherapy techniques and minimizing toxicity to normal tissues. His work includes combined chemoradiotherapy, assessment of radiation-induced secondary cancer risk, and treatment personalization through biomarkers such as circulating miRNAs.
He is also actively involved in the development and application of Artificial Intelligence methods in radiotherapy, including auto-segmentation, treatment planning optimization, radiomics-based image analysis, and predictive modeling of treatment response and toxicity.
