Eleni Vakonaki is an Assistant Professor of Toxicology with extensive experience in clinical and forensic toxicology. She holds a degree in Biology from the University of Federico II of Naples and has completed her postgraduate and doctoral studies, as well as her postdoctoral research, at the Medical School of the University of Crete. She is a member of the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT), a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Forensic Toxicology (ELEDΙT), and is registered in the European Register of Toxicologists (ERT), while actively participating in numerous research projects and international collaborations.

2022: Master of Science (MSc) in Hematology-Oncology of Childhood and Adolescents, School of Medicine, University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece.
2023: Postdoctoral Research in Toxicology, School of Medicine, University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece.
Her research interests focus on the development and application of analytical methodologies for the detection of endocrine disruptors and hormones in non-conventional biological matrices, as well as on the biomonitoring of human exposure to xenobiotics, such as pharmaceuticals and environmental pollutants. In addition, she investigates the impact of exposure to these substances on cellular aging, through the study of telomere length.

Registered in the European Register of Toxicologists (ERT).
