Theano Kokkinaki is Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Crete, Greece. She obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Her research focuses on infant mental health and development, emphasizing interactions between young infants—including preterm neonates—and their Significant Others across cultural contexts. Recently, she explores links between biological markers, psychosocial factors, and the acoustic environment within the climate crisis.
She has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and contributed to more than 100 conference presentations.
Professor Kokkinaki serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for over 60 international journals. She has received funding from institutions including the State Scholarships Foundation, the Vardinogiannis Foundation, the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas, and the LEGO Foundation. Her current research is funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation.

Dr Papadaki’s main field of interest is Neutropenia, Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and Umbilical Cord Blood applications. She had been the PI in a number of national and international Projects, she has more than 200 publications and more than 7000 citations. She has been awarded by 25 Awards for best abstract or full paper in the Hellenic Haematology Association and has received the Health Care Greek Award for the category “Research in Hospital” in 2021 and 2023.
