Dr. Sophia Papadakis Ph.D. MHA
Dr. Papadakis holds a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Public Health & Health Systems at the University of Waterloo and Master’s in Health Administration. Dr Papadakis is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Medicine at the University of Crete (2015) and Academic Health Systems Consultant with the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training in the UK. Prior to this role was Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa(Canada) and Programme Director in the Division of Prevention at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Dr. Papadakis expertise are health behaviour change with a focus on chronic disease prevention in clinical and community settings and holds expertise in the design, delivery, evaluation and scale up (implementation science) of behaviour change interventions. Dr. Papadakis primary area of interest and passion is tobacco dependence treatment with a focus moving evidence into real world settings. Dr. Papadakis has held multiple large research and knowledge translation grants and has been involved in development of several successful interventions programs including the “Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation”. Dr Papadakis has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and monographs, technical reports on tobacco dependence treatment and disease prevention.

Dr Papadaki’s main field of interest is Neutropenia, Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and Umbilical Cord Blood applications. She had been the PI in a number of national and international Projects, she has more than 200 publications and more than 7000 citations. She has been awarded by 25 Awards for best abstract or full paper in the Hellenic Haematology Association and has received the Health Care Greek Award for the category “Research in Hospital” in 2021 and 2023.
