Konstantina Chanoumidou is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the School of Medicine, University of Crete. She received her B.Sc. from the Department of Biology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and her Ph.D. from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Democritus University of Thrace, in collaboration with the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (IMBB-FORTH) in Heraklion.

Dr. Konstantina Chanoumidou worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Neuropathology, University Hospital Münster (UKM), Germany. She subsequently conducted a second postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Crete. She was a postdoctoral fellow of the Bodossaki Foundation. In addition, she was awarded a short-term EMBO fellowship at the Lund Stem Cell Centre, Lund University, Sweden, as well as at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), University of Luxembourg. Her research work has been published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, and she serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals. Furthermore, she has been invited to present the results of her research at national and international scientific conferences.

Dr. Konstantina Chanoumidou also serves as a scientific advisor for Reneurocell Therapeutics and acts as an external collaborator with IFET.

Dr. Chanoumidou’s research interests focus on:
– The development of cellular models derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to study the mechanisms underlying central nervous system diseases (neurodegenerative, demyelinating, and malignant disorders).
– The pharmacological evaluation of neuroprotective compounds.
– The correlation of metabolic disturbances with neurodegenerative diseases.
