Ιordanis Pelagiadis is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the University of Crete. He holds a medical degree from the University of Naples, Italy ( summa cum laude) and a PhD from the University of Crete, Medical School.
He completed his Pediatric residency at the University Hospital of Heraklion in 2012. His doctoral thesis was conducted in the Laboratory of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology of the University of Crete, focusing on the interaction between mesenchymal stromal cells and subpopulations of cord blood and bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells.
He has extensive experience and contributions in clinical and research Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, having been trained and worked in hospitals both in Greece and abroad, including Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
He actively participates in multicenter clinical studies for therapeutic protocols in children with cancer, and has received awards for original scientific work. He is involved in the organization and scientific committees of national conferences and international collaborative initiatives.
Iordanis is a board member of the Hellenic Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (HeSPHO) and an active member of national and European scientific societies.
His research field includes basic and clinical studies on pediatric hematological diseases (both benign and malignant), pediatric solid tumors, bone marrow failure syndromes, neutropenia, and bone marrow microenvironment.
His work promotes the molecular diagnostics, the study of rare diseases, with a focus on the quality of care and long-term outcomes in children and adolescent patients with the diagnosis of cancer.
His achievements highlight the combined value of modern research and clinical experience in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.

Thesis: In vitro analysis of Ralt/5FU/FA interaction upon cell proliferation and alteration of the cell cycle. Prof. Α. Bianco (2002). The project was performed at the department of Clinical Oncology, University of Naples “Federico II”
2007-2011: Specialty Training post in the Department of Paediatrics at General University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, Greece
2012 : Trust Fellow in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK
