I am an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Medical School of the University of Crete, Greece, and I currently practice at the Orthopaedic Department of Heraklion University Hospital. I serve as the Deputy Clinical Director and the Head of Orthopaedic Trauma of the Orthopaedic Department of the Heraklion University Hospital, Crete, Greece. I specialize in orthopaedic trauma and pelvic, as well as the total joint replacement of lower extremities.

I have completed my fellowship training in two world-renowned orthopaedic centres of North America, the first in “Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery” at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the second in “Lower Extremity Reconstruction and Trauma Surgery” at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have also conducted another two short-term fellowships on Orthopaedic Trauma at the Leeds Major Trauma Centre, UK and on Primary and Complex Hip Arthroplasty at the Endoklinik of Hamburg, Germany.

My special clinical research interests include the management of polytrauma patients, the clinical outcomes after pelvic and acetabular reconstruction, modern techniques in pelvic and acetabular surgery, the patient-related outcome measures in orthopaedic trauma, the fluoroscopy use in fracture surgery, the orthogeriatric fracture care and surgical anatomical studies. I have been involved in the supervision of eight (8) PhD Theses at the University of Crete. One (1) of them was completed under my mentorship as the primary supervisor, and another one (1) as one of the co-supervisors. I am the primary supervisor in three (3) ongoing PhD Theses and in another three (3) as one of the supervisors. I am also the Head of the “Laboratory of Orthopaedic Research” of the Medical School of the University of Crete
