Stamatis Karakonstantis was born and raised in Vrontados, Chios. He entered the School of Medicine at the University of Crete in 2006 and graduated first in his class in 2012. Immediately afterwards, he completed his military service (2012–2013) in Chios and subsequently pursued postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom with a scholarship, obtaining a Master’s degree from the University of Birmingham (2013–2014). He trained in Internal Medicine at Venizeleio General Hospital of Heraklion (2015–2020) and subsequently completed subspecialty training in Infectious Diseases at the University General Hospital of Heraklion (2021–2023). In parallel, he completed his doctoral thesis (PhD) at the School of Medicine of the University of Crete (2018–2022). In December 2024, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Crete. His research interests focus on Internal Medicine, with particular emphasis on Infectious Diseases.
