Τα ερευνητικά ενδιαφέρονται της Δρ Νύκταρη εστιάζονται στις μηχανικές ιδιότητες του αναπνευστικού συστήματος (θέμα ΔΔ), στον μηχανικό αερισμό κατά την Αναισθησία, στην αντιμετώπιση του οξέος και χρόνιου πόνου, στην αναισθησία-αναλγησία με ελαχιστοποίηση ή ελεύθερη οπιοειδών και στη διαχείριση της αιμορραγίας με τη βοήθεια της θρομβοελαστομετρίας.
