Our research program investigates the mechanistic roles of
hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis hormones and key neuropeptides in the regulation of cutaneous wound healing and tissue regeneration. We aim to define the cellular and molecular signaling pathways through which these mediators influence inflammation, matrix remodeling, and
re-epithelialization. Recent work in our laboratory has extended these studies to psoriasis, where we examine how dysregulation of neuroendocrine pathways contributes to immune activation and impaired skin homeostasis.

Complementarily, we explore the involvement of stress-related peptides and synthetic microneurotrophins in the pathophysiology of inflammatory pain. These studies seek to identify novel molecular targets and therapeutic strategies for managing chronic inflammatory pain—a highly prevalent and clinically challenging condition.

Overall, our research integrates neuroendocrine, immunological, and molecular biology approaches to advance understanding of skin pathology and pain mechanisms, with the long-term goal of developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
