Micromechanical Engineering & Prototype Design Lab

The Microengineering and Prototype Design Laboratory has been operating since 1999, when it was first housed at the Science and Technology Park of Crete. In 2008, it moved to the Medical School of the University of Crete, where it is still located today.

Equipped with modern machine tools for mechanical processing, 3D printing, specialized design and industrial systems production software, it has carried out numerous projects in collaboration with research institutes in molecular biology & biotechnology, astrophysics, Information Technology and Electronic Structure _Laser, as well as university departments of Medicine, Information Technology, and Chemistry, concerning the development of prototypes, experimental devices and systems, concepts and patents, as well as the production of industrial equipment at the local industry level within the framework of interaction programs between the University of Crete and local industry.

The laboratory provides ongoing support to all research and postgraduate programs of the Medical School of the University of Crete.
